The SL Sartorialist

SARTORIALIST:  noun 1. a person who practices or is interested in sartorialism …  sartorialism: an interest in matters of or relating to the tailoring of clothing

It’s clear that many people follow Second Life fashion trends, but I am not sure how many follow real life fashion.  I’m an avid reader of the blog called The Sartorialist.  The founder, Mr. Scott Schuman, left his high end fashion job to become a stay-at-home dad. Along the way to his new life, he began taking candid photos of people on the streets and blogging their look. Rarely does he write anything about the clothing, the image seems to capture just what needs to be said. It’s fascinating to look through all the places he has traveled and see how much fashion is a part of everyday culture – even running to the bodega down the street. (Since The Sartorialist began, it has become widely syndicated and there is a book published his images – to find out more or purchase the look book click on the link to his blog.)

I would like to take this concept into Second Life. As I run around the sims of SL and live through the sales and special offers like any normal SL babe, I will take pictures of random strangers who have a decidedly unique look.  Their names and the sim will be posted here for your viewing pleasure. No poses. No trick photoshopping to smooth out lines or creases. Just SL fashion: neat. clean. and simple.

I hope you enjoy the new fashion column of coffeesmoke. It’s going to be a lot fun looking at all the new faces and fashions here at coffeesmoke!

Glad to be back!
