Have You Gotten Felt Up Recently?

This blog entry is going to be about boobs.

It occurred to me talking to coworker today, that some ladies don’t know important basic information about their own tata’s. This inspired me to put some easy tips together for the blog. We see so many cancer charity drives in Second Life, but rarely does actual information get the press it deserves. It’s funny. I have to sit and watch commercials about elderly men who want to get a hard-on at age 60, but my own girlfriends don’t know simple facts about their own bodies. Us ladies gotta stick together, help each other and protect each other like wolf cubs – so let’s do that starting now.

Feel Yourself on Schedule
Always feel your tits up AFTER your period and only once a month. Your natural estrogen levels are lower after you bleed, so this will give you an excellent baseline reading of how your breasts FEEL. Some breasts do have a natural lumpiness to them. Get to know the shape of your boobies. NAME them if it helps you keep a good personal relationship with them. Also, it helps even more if you exam them always at the same time. Again, establishing a baseline for your boobs is the key to knowing if something is wrong later.

Know The Pill
When I was younger, I was told that The Pill was practically the second coming of Christ. Not only would it manage pregnancy, but studies implied the pill reduced risk factors with certain cancers. Both are still true, but a tiny little tablet isn’t THAT altruistic. Everything comes with a price. Make sure you know what those costs are before you sign up. Personally, when I went OFF the pill my life and my breasts became a whole lot easier to maintain.

Get Your Vitamins In
If you have ever complained about moderate breast soreness, listen up. Doctors might have told you that your breasts are Fibrocystic and to manage the soreness with ibuproferin or a heating pad. Who wants to deal with that every day? Next thing you know, you’re 35 and have a chronic stomach ulcer and permanently tinted red tits. I suggest an easier route that worked for me: Vitamin E and D. Both alleviated my discomfort greatly. The only side effect was few bad poos adjusting to a new intake of vitamins. We’ve ALL dealt with bad poos, it aint no big whoop.

Caffeine Annoys Those Dirty Pillows
That’s right, you heard it from me. The avid coffee lover, admittedly, is quite flawed when it comes to giving up my bean. However if you are prone to boobies that are sensitive, coffee or any caffeine isn’t going to help. You might want to decrease your intake of your favorite caffeinated vice. Le sigh.

BRCA1 and BRCA2 Testing
The National Cancer Institute put together a nice fact sheet on the genetic testing for breast cancer. Here it is: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/BRCA Look it over. Even if you aren’t a qualified candidate, maybe you know someone who is? It never hurts to be an informed participant in life. So take a minute to look it over.

SOME RED FLAGS

  1. If you have any female relatives on your MOTHER’s side of your family with cancer, this might be a concern. Be sure to tell every doctor you meet this information.
  2. Immediate family members that have or had cancer would also be a concern. Again, disclose this up front to all your doctors. Even if you think it’s unrelated, always opt on the side of full disclosure.

A CAVEAT
All of these tips have happened to me PERSONALLY in REAL LIFE. I am only passing along my personal experience in hopes that it can inspire you to ask questions and find answers that pertains specifically to you and your health. I’ve never had a lot of “female guidance” in my life, so a lot of these solutions I found through stumbling around in the dark. Maybe with this blog entry, I can help someone through that same darkness.

NOTE: This is not meant to be taken as actual medical treatment, since I am NOT a doctor. Please consult your own doctor if any of the suggestions in this blog have interested you.

This public service announcement was brought to you by the makers of coffeesmoke. We have tits and like to make sure that yours and ours are as fabulous as they ought to be!

Thank you for putting this out there. Especially after the recent announcement that women don’t need Mammograms as frequently.
