I love art more than I like most people.
My friend Nemo took me to this place called ART BOX, created by Frankie Rockett and Violet Sweetwater, where you can become the art itself. Allow me to explain.
When you arrive on the second floor, you see a bunch of kiosks with some of your favorite paintings or scenes from pop cultures. You simply click the art you want, the kiosk brings you down to the first floor, and then a stage is set for that scene. It will include pose balls and even props where necessary! In the case of the Attack of the 50ft Woman, it gave me a miniature car to hold! RAWR! If the scene does have props, it will come in the form of a crate off to the side. Make sure you look out for it because it does help create the mood.

I can’t tell you how much fun it was to fuck around with this. My inner child was happy as a clam playing with the Jackson Pollack splatter canvas. You can tell that a lot of love was put into this project.
Also, make sure you bring some friends too, a bunch of the selections need cohorts fill them out. Once you have some pictures, do upload them to Flickr. Here’s the link to their Group page: http://www.flickr.com/groups/theartbox
Honestly, for the art history lover this is where it’s at. It’s all run at the generosity of Mr. Rockett and Ms. Sweetwater, so do donate to the cause. Go be the muther fuckin’ art. Dare to dream.

OOOOHHHH this place looks awesome. I may steal your idea and blog it myself!
PLEASE DO!
It’s super duper fun setting up the stages and figuring out the best stuff to wear to mimic the original art.

An Angel in a Fanny Pack, YAY!
Hi Marleen
Thank you for visiting Art Box, and for blogging about it afterwards too. We created Art Box for the sheer pleasure of it, and half the pleasure is knowing that others have found delight in our work and have used it to have fun and create further themselves. It’s a work in progress; we add one new set based on a famous painting or iconic photograph, every single week without fail, so it’s constantly fresh and new. Do feel free to drop in anytime. If you’ve a group slot free, you’ll catch our weekly anouncement on what’s released and when, but even if you don’t, you can stay in touch via our website (http://artbox.advancedvirtual.com). Traffic flow is two way too, so if you have any suggestions for artworks you’d like to see, we will consider creating them in 3D too – talk to us about what are criteria for inclusion is. Meanwhile we hope to see you all at Art Box soon. Do say hello, we’re usually around!
Thank you so much for this blog post. We are so happy that people are enjoying our project and getting as much out of it as we are putting in. Thank you for helping to spread the word.
See you all at Art Box!
